Jayden's First Steps into the world

Hello pple...

19th November... remember this date! Little Jayden finally came out! 36weeks + 5 days in the uterus and he finally came!

It was a clear monday morning, i went to work as usual...but i knew i had my appointment to see DR THK for a routine check up. My nice in charge, Mr Goh CK, kindly let me go off at 0930hrs for my review.. leaving my 2 staff, Denise and Chwee Sia to survive in the OT.. MR NN LO's theatre. 1st case, bilateral TKR!

Mr Lo asked me:" Moarie, what are you still doing here? Maybe i should deliver for you. I am experienced in gynae too!Dun worry, THK was my HO before, i have already told him to take good care of you already!"

(Xiao)... hahaha.. that was what was on my mind..i was already busy enough circulating.. no time to listen to what he as saying and all lah!

0930hrs- went to OG clinic to see Dr THK.. was late for my appointment, so was delayed till 1000hrs.

1000hrs- Went into Room 7 to see Dr THK. He asked if i was okie. I said yes.. but BP was high and urine dip stick albumin level was 3+.

Dr THK: "Go up the table. Let me do a VE for you"

Moarie: "Ok.. baby wont come out today right?"

Dr THK: " Let's see... Hmmm.. very good. You are already 2cm dilated already!"

Moarie: "WHAT!!! (silently...*%&%#$)"

Dr THK: You need to be induced today. In pregnancy, high BP (144/98) is not good. Plus your albumin level is a 3+! Its not good. Let's take another BP and urine sample again.

Moarie: "Ok.... ( a little more kancheong). But I am kan cheong now. How to have normal BP?"

Dr THK: " Just take lah. I think you have to induce today already."

Moarie: "Ok lah"

Results: BP- 153/99, HR 103, Albumin 3+ again! Kancheong +++

Dr THK: " Admit ah, will insert a prostin and see how your cervix react.

Moarie: "Will baby come out tonight or tomorrow? Coz I am hoping for tomorrow. Dun want to be the same date as my colleague lah :) haha... "

Dr THK: Most likely tomolo early am. So dun worry lah.. Get urself ready. Let's admit you straight into Labour ward.

Moarie: "Okie, can i walk in there myself later on? i go back to OT to settle my things first, inform the people that I am supposed to inform?

Dr THK: "Okie. But don't take too long ah"

Moarie: "Yes Sir."

1030hrs
Called Arthur, told him the whole news.. Haha.. His heart was pounding hard.. haha.. little jayden's finally coming out.. :) scared too man! I told him to take his time, finish what he was supposed to finish, inform whoever he needs to inform and go home, grab some stuff and proceed to labour ward..

I went back to OT, informed relevant pple, and decided to take a poop, then shower next.. Hehee.. dun want to poop while pushing later...Pooped, Showered, powdered and made myself smell a little nicer, cleared my locker of all my food items,and clothes...pack my things nicely, and took a slow walk to Labour ward.. (Heart pounding...)

1130hrs
The moment I walked into Labour Ward, the nurses were like "SN Moarie.... U are finally here! Okie.. Let's go to room 3 and get urself ready!"

Moarie: "Okie... (more kan cheong and just kept farting although i just pooped)!"

Changed into labour clothes... CTG (my "friend") was placed on me to monitor Jayden...again... I was told to relax and I tried...watched TV, called my family to tell them the situation and of course tell them not to worry and all lah... :)

The midwives kept walking in and out, asking if i was okie, comfortable, if i needed anything, if i need nitrous oxide, epidural... No i dun need anything pain relief coz i wasnt in pain at all.. but i needed food...so i got my food..1 cup of hot milo and 3 packs of biscuit of which i gobbled down in less than 5mins.. Hungry! and i needed the energy too!

BP still high.. climbing too... highest it went was 190/100++...Gosh...

1330hrs
This MO or REG came in...spoke to me without looking much at me, keep on writing and writing and writing and writing on my case notes! then she asked me if DR THK mentioned anything about inducing? I said yes.. he wants to insert a prostin and wait for delivery.

This REG (i think lah) said she wants to do a VE for me and i said okie... this was the MOST PAINFUL VE that i have ever had! after that, i started bleeding! then she said.. okie.. cervix hard, dilated 2 to 3cm! I was groaning.. in pain! damn it, cant she be more gentle!

1355hrs
Prostin inserted.. Not much pain except for my usual contractions lah...pain score, really... 5.. it was bearable...

1630hrs
Arthur finally arrived...2 big bags... wonder what gold he brought.. haha..:) then, i was already having a little more pain, but pain score, still 5.. still bearable.. sometimes breathing in the nitrous oxide which obviously became my best friend later... :)

1700hrs
Nitrous oxide became a better friend now... I sniffed and i inhaled.. like it was some drug!eh, yes it a drug.. It made me gaga for a while.. but i liked that feeling coz it totally relived my pain! Dr THK came in, did a VE again.. 3cm dilated.. he said, i could actually ask for epidural already and try to get some rest.. and baby will come out probably the next day about 4am to 5am... okie.. i said.. in the midst of sniffing my drug!

1730hrs
DR Lee Pang was called for my epidural.. he had to come from somewhere far and his poor wife had to sit at the Kopitiam for coffee while he gave me epidural...
I was turned to my side..decided to keep smelling the nitrous oxide to prevent pain...

1830hrs.
Epidural in... all docs left..Arthur went for dinner..I was in a little pain after the epidural.. legs werent as numb as i thought i would be... Contractions.. Yes.. I could feel them!

2000hrs..
Epidural didnt seem to be working..Dr Teo YW was called to top up marcain and increase epidural for me..slight pain relief.. but soon after, nitrous oxide seemed to work better when the major contractions came...Arthur.. busy msging the whole world the progress and asking them for prayers...then i screamed..can u come show me some love instead of playing with ur phone!!!

Then I needed to chew on ice cudes.. Art asked the nurses for a cup of ice cubes, then it became 2 and then 3.. I just had to chew on ice.. made me feel lots better too!

Midwife decided to do a VE for me..she said..

Midwife: "Guess what, you are about 8cm dilated already. No wonder you are feeling so much pain. You are very fast for a 1st child...too fast..in fact the faster that i have seen in so many years...

Think your next one ( Ya right... nx one.. not in the near future man), you need to come in faster already! cannot wait until you are in too much pain!
I can feel baby's head already. Your husband want to see the head?"

Arthur: "Ya okie"

So the midwife spread my labia and vagina, showed arthur Jayden's head! 2x some more...hahaha.... Was wondering if i will ever get pregnant again!(side effect of seeing such a swollen and huge vagina lah, as pple call it, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)). hehehe...

Midwife said that i will definitely deliver today and during her shift.. which means before 2130hrs! she called DR THK and he was shocked that i dilated so quickly..he didn't expect it himself.. Ping ping piang piang, she started preparing the things she needed for delivery...open this, open that..Arthur used his mobile, take pics of everything i was using and what Jayden would be using when he comes out...

2100hrs.
Dr THK arrived..still can wait for a while..I was all positioned for delivery already.. Breaking back, numb legs which i had to hold up myself..sure.. Art was around.. but 1st time daddy, blur like anything.. but he did well..

2110hrs
Midwives, 2 of them.. taught me how to push.."The no sound, and want to pang sai technique" When contractions came, take in a deep breath, and push.. NO SOUND allowed.. just PUSH like I want to pang sai! PUSH AND PUSH! No more best friend.. no more nitrous oxide! Back was breaking...Art was holding me, staring at what DR THK was doing, parroting after the midwives:"No sound dear, no sound" That voice really became a nuisance to me..I had to shut him up! Well, for all that i can remember in that 10mins of pushing, PAIN and more pain at the arsehole!

2126hrs
The Arrival of JMR JAYDEN FOO into this world! 2.795kg, 49cm. I laid on the bed, total relief, Arthur almost teared! I was tearing.. DR THK sewing me up...I told art to go take some pics of Jayden's first moments.. :) Real relief that everything was over..I could finally sleep properly...without this huge tummy..yeah!

Well, I know i end this blog rather abruptly.. but i have to go hospital to feed Jayden breast milk already... He's admitted for slight jaundice..Shall update further when i get back...

Smile pple! I am on maternity leave for 84 days! ending 10th FEB! yeah after CNY! 1st CNY that I do not have to work!!!!

Meanwhile, SMILE!!!! make someone's day happy and all worth while! :)
